The End - PAT

Mcguffin - An element that drives the plot.

Titanic - Rose
What they want -
Escape
Be accepted by her family to have a relationship with someone in a lower status.

Elf 2 - Buddy 
What they want -
Everyone to believe in Santa
To prove that Santa visits everyone even if they are ill.

Titanic - Rose
What they need -
Learn to embrace freedom and live everyday like its the last

Elf 2 - Buddy
What they need -
Everyone to believe him and trust him

Creative Compass

Triumphant Ending
- Character gets what they want AND what they need

Transcendent Ending 
- Character only gets what they need.
- e.g. Rose gets the sense of freedom but doesn't get the man she loves.

Tragic Ending
- Character doesn't get what they want or what they need.

Existential Ending
- Character gets what they want but don't get what they need


TITANIC

Triumphant Ending;
Rose gets a sense of freedom and she moves over to make room for jack so he survives

Transcendent Ending;
Rose gets a sense of freedom but doesn't get the man she loves.

Tragic Ending;
Rose dies alongside jack meaning she never gets to feel the sense of freedom.

Existential Ending
Rose gets the love from jack but still has to live under her parents rules and doesn't have her fathers acceptance.
