Entry One

After discussing with Ollie some of my initial ideas, it became apparent to me that I really wanted to use the idea of having a voiceover onto a visuals. With the visuals having no sound at all, it will make it more impacting to the audience as they will be able to really listen to what is being said.

Main Idea
I got the idea from the popular film 'Titanic' where an older Rose is talking about her love for Jack Dawson, a man she courted against her fathers wishes on a once in a life time trip on a cruise ship that was said to be unsinkable. After losing Jack in the tragedy as the ship sunk, Rose then gave her name out as 'Rose Dawson', taking Jacks name to prove her on going love for him. At the very end of the film, there are a group of people sitting in a dark room, listening to Rose talking about her love for Jack. One of my favourite quotes from this part of the film is the following; 'Now you know there was a man called Jack Dawson, and that he saved me. In every way that a person can be saved… he exists now, only in my memory.'  This quote is really touching and I really think it would fit in well with the genre and the idea of my film. Another famous quote that I would like to use is from a popular film 'The Pursuit of Happiness' when Will Smith is determined to tell his son never to give up on his dreams. The quote goes as follows 'Hey, don't ever let someone tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. Alright? You gotta dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. You want something, go get it. Period.' This quote has stuck with me and impacted me ever since I first watched the the film.

Using these quotes, I am hoping to create a speech to be spoke above visuals of a young girl walking around a place where she remembered her father who was killed suddenly from unexplained circumstances.

Techniques
Throughout my film, I want to use a lot of fade to white and also fade to black as it is almost going to be like a dream/memory being relived. The film I am hoping to create is going to be inside an old lady's thoughts. Reliving old memories of her father who she loved dearly.
